No it is clear that I'm not a poet. So much yet to do during the countdown, so many mixed emotions, and so limited are the hours of the day available for this process. The Admiral (aka Joy) has now asked on several occassions "tell me, just why are we doing this again?" Yes, the question has merit.
Why indeed does one set out on a new adventure, looking for new horizons, when home is comfortable, one is fortunate enough to work with great colleagues, have wonderful friends, and be close to family? Yes indeed a very good question. But a question not to be answered at this juncture.
Yes there is still much to do with just a little over a week left before lift off. Also with that there are many mixed emotions attached to this venture, with the many kind people who have taken time to bid us farewell, or ideally to see us later.
Mary Liz was kind enough to use her home to bid farewell for the nurses and GI group. Nancy and Connie are also to be thanked for their help in organizing the event. Ted Vandenberg also to be thanked for using his home, the kind words of Scott and my other colleagues,to bid farewell from the Department of Medical Oncology. And of course Carlos & Doug for allowing the sailors at Bayfield to use their restaurant DaVinci's, spearheaded by my good buddy Richie, to bid farewell for now, for the lift off over the horizen. And of course my son Michael for helping his old man, the technocratic idiot, to help get this blog going. Finally, last but not least, we have to thank our broader family, both on the side of the Admiral (aka Joy), as well as the Skipper (aka Ian), for their understanding and good wishes despite the emotional issues attached to this up coming lift off. Skype will be tested!
As there is yet much to do the next entry will likely come from Arabia, next to the Red sea, seven time zones away. The next part of the life adventure is about to begin.
Farewell from GI group.
Farewell from Department of Medical Oncology - not more talking!
Is it because I'm leaving?
Sailors Farewell at Bayfield - they must be hungry.
Richie & Joan - many thanks for the idea. Next your adventure South.
Judy, Gary and the Admiral - happy as we are not looking at boxes!
Our last night in Bayfield 2010 - a very nice break (holiday?)
Last view of Bayfield overlooking Lake Huron 2010 - a rainy day bids us farewell as we are about to start our new journey, where rain is scarce.
